eurovision vote for uk

The Eurovision song contest is always a joy to watch and if anything the quality of the songs and staging has gone up a level over the last couple of years. Sweden did a great job hosting the 2016 contest and I really like the ‘edge of your seat’ nature of the new points system. I feel bad for the Australian entry of course, but Ukraine is a worthy winner and it was a fitting end to the night.

Of all the tweets I read during the live contest though, this one stood out for me and made me smile. We (the UK) really don’t have a lot of luck points wise do we :). Joe and Jake and their song ‘You’re Not Alone’ did okay with the jury but woefully with the public. And let’s not get started with the Irish entry! Oh well, I enjoy the show anyway. It’s ‘the taking part’ and all that!

colton haynes comes out

Okay so Colton Haynes coming out of the closet isn’t exactly the biggest surprise on the face of the planet, considering those photos from way back when and his half way coming out as gay “was it a secret?” tumblr post (hich received 26,000 notes), in reference to his ‘secret gay past’.

Nevertheless, it’s nice to see that he’s now taken a more public approach to his sexuality now and I’m really happy that he’s opened up about how he’s happier and less anxious now that he’s taken this step to come out as gay.

“It took me so long to get to this point, but I’m doing so good,” Haynes said. “I’m happier than I’ve ever been, and healthier than I’ve ever been, and that’s what I care about.”

blanket kniting pattern

I’m all for the latest fashion item and saw this listed as a knitted ‘hue shift’ afghan blanket. However to me, this is a rainbow dream and I’d die to find out the knitting pattern, only it costs 5 dollars apparently and I’m something of a cheapskate  so it will forever allude me!! However if any one of you are dedicated enough to knit this and take a pic of yourself with it, I’ll of course be happy to show the pic of your achievement here on lgbtq.co.uk :). I of course wouldn’t ask that you send it to me or anything, but you know, if you feel like it and stuff maybe ;).

If you’re like me and struggle keep fitness at the forefront of your mind, perhaps this exercise routine contribution from British swimmer Tom Daley can help you to get in the right mindset. The video consists of several 30 second exercises that will help you improve your cardio and strength, so check it out and get closer to having those abs of steel. Please don’t do what I did and just watch Tom’s video half naked while eating a pizza!
